Merry Christmas to Yooooouuuu!

Millie was a Bassett Hound who really like to howl
Everyone was given this treatment who dared to come around
It didn’t really seem to matter if you were friend or foe
She would plant her paws for support and get ready to let go
The head would be thrown back and off she would start
Howling with all the strength in her happy little heart
“Owwwww” she would howl with her chest pushed right out
Such a powerful noise drawn from her tail to her snout
She made people jump when she caught them by surprise
You could see her enjoyment from the mischievous twinkle in her eyes
Today there was a party and she had been ushered outside
She ran around in defiance then straight into a snowman she’d collide
Shaking the snow off she saw guests merrily eating indoors
Not being left out of snacks she straightened herself up on all paws
A sweet red robin flew down to offer her his little voice
“They are going to hear me” Millie said, “they just have no choice”
And with that she threw back her ears and howled at the sky
“Owwwwwwwwww” she wailed a deafening wild banshee cry
It was heard over the music and finally they let her back inside
Triumphantly she waddled herself over and pushed the door aside
Spotting the sausage rolls she made a dive for an abandoned plate
Well, I have to work hard, she thought, to keep up my weight.
Christmas is for everyone she thought heading to her warm cosy bed
All howled out, she decided to have a well-earned festive sleep instead
